Hinchley Wood

Located in the Elmbridge borough of Surrey, England, Hinchley Wood is a small hamlet roughly 13 miles southwest of Charing Cross in downtown London and inside the Greater London Urban Area. A big part of its development revolved around the railway station at its center, located on the New Guildford Line. Many of its residences are occupied by at least one commuter to Central London.

The town features one main street with a fleet of convenience stores, local services, and a gas station. There are a few small companies scattered across the neighborhood. The village’s primary shopping center is located just north of a traffic light junction, bordered by many of the village’s senior apartments, and is directly north of a traffic light intersection.

The Old FarmHouse, built in the 16th century, is the most historically significant structure in the town. It is a beautiful structure with a timber-framed core and a stuccoed exterior with simple tiled roofs. And there is a massive brick stack at the back and end of the building. You can see the first floor from the second story, which features a pair of three-paned wood windows in the middle. Hinchley Wood was initially planned to be created on farmland that belonged to Thames Ditton.  

Located at the point where the rails diverged, Hinchley Wood railway station was the most cost-effectively constructed and manned.
